Wole Soyinka, became Africa's first Nobel laureate, winning the prize for literature in 1986. A prolific writer of essays, fiction and theater, his plays have been staged throughout the world. Soyinka is also one of Africa's leading pro-democracy activists; in 1967 during the civil war in his native Nigeria he was imprisoned for his activism. Following his release two years later he has gone in and out of exile but remains a fierce critic of Nigeria's government. Soyinka's latest work is a memoir, You Must Set Forth At Dawn. Hosted by Howard Manly.
