- Description
- Program Description
- A talk on the farm workers movement. Huerta begins recalling her past efforts, including her time spent with Cesar Chavez, highlighting the struggles and unionization of the workers into the present day. While critical of many employers and the Republican Party, she notes some agricultural companies treat their employees well. She advocates minority studies and affirmative action in higher education, reparations for Native Americans, and the advancement of women and feminism. She decries racist, sexist, and homophobic jokes and materialism. Holding Cuba as an ideal, she questions inequalities in America. She concludes by calling for legalization of all immigrants in America and for young people to vote. The unmoderated question and answer section touches on organic farming and unions.
