- The first season concludes with an entire episode devoted to the March on Washington for Lesbian, Gay, and Bi Equal Rights and Liberation. The march was a large political rally that took place in Washington, D.C. on April 25, 1993. Organizers estimated one million attended the March. Highlights segment features marchers and a clip of Martin Luther King, Jr., followed by an introduction and overview segment with Karen Williams and Garrett Glaser, and clips of celebrities, dancing, marchers, politicians, and organization leaders. The Gay civil rights organizations segment features Ground Zero, the Colorado Legal Initiative Project, and Representative Pat Schroeder (D-Colorado), and the segment President Clinton's support includes an interview with Bob Hattoy (White House staff), and a speech given by Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-California). Speech clips segment features Senator Paul Wellstone (D-Minnesota), David Mixner (senior advisor, Clinton campaign), Larry Kramer (GMHC and ACT-UP), Martina Navratilova, Tim McFeeley (Human Rights Campaign), Urvashi Vaid (formerly of NGLTF), and Jesse Jackson (from 1987 March on Washington), followed by a segment of more highlights, including marchers, dancers, athletes, photos, poetry, parties, and tributes, as well as a One in ten art exhibit about AIDS, the unveiling of the design of the Harvey Milk memorial, a vigil at the Holocaust Museum, a choir singing Together proud and strong, a mass wedding, and a same-sex parents meeting. The Entertainment segment features musical performances from Doug Stevens and the Outband, Holly Near, Betty, and stand-up comedy performances from Lea DeLaria, Kate Clinton, Suzanne Westenhoefer, and Karen Williams, with a comedy musical number by Romanovsky & Phillips. The Surprise performances segment includes Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge, Patti Austin, and RuPaul. The History of activism segment includes a 1969 picket of White House by civil servants, video of Harvey Milk, and the 1987 March on Washington. The Celebrity supporters segment features appearances by Judith Light, Martina Navratilova, Melissa Etheridge, Sir Ian McKellen, interviews with Kathy Najimy and Cybill Sherpherd, and a performance by Lorna Luft, and the show closes with clips of military personnel, fun stuff, speakers, dancing, and crowds. A musical performance by RuPaul is featured over the credits.
